First Days (or Second)

Meredith the first morning of preschool last week.

Wesley yesterday on the first day of 1st grade!  He had a great day!

Wesley posing his “1st day of School” pose on the 2nd day of school.  When I saw yesterday’s pic, he was sitting and not to my satisfaction.  You couldn’t see how tall he’s grown in the last 2 weeks!  I have the best husband to retake 1st day pics 2 days in a row!  Thanks, Honey!

The Trooks take on Fantasy Football.

Well, Stephanie and I are both in a Fantasy Football League.  It will be interesting because we are both very competative.  We will let everyone know how it is going.

Oh by the way, school starts tomorrow.  Wesley will be a first grader!  Stephanie and I both have some changes but basically will be doing the same as last year.  We will also get some pics up of the first day of school.

Favorite Commerical(s)

If you know us at all, you know that we are AVID sports fans.  But our favorite is FOOTBALL!  I’m not going to get on a soapbox here, but I don’t count pre-season as real football either! Sorry, Gary!  :)  I also will not get started on the Brett Farve drama.  I definitely have an opinion, but I’m not going to post it for all the world to read.  However, I am a huge Peyton Manning fan!  So, we, Jason included, have loved wataching commericals for the NFL Kickoff Weekend on September 4th.  We crack up everytime they come on!  For those of you non-sports fans, the 2 guys are brothers.  They are hilarious!  I can’t wait for football!  The most recent of the commericals is of Peyton and Eli playing one of my favorite childhood games.  See if you can figure out which one from the following clip.

Dion’s is Here!

As always, I feel I am behind on blogging, we still have 3 family events to post about, but we just had to get this out there for you Lubbockites.  We have been anxiously awaiting the “Grand Opening” of Dion’s on 82nd and Elgin “ish.”  (Side note-Have you ever noticed how much I use quotes?  Does it bother any of you?  Jason’s college roommate, Colin used to make fun of air quotes all the time.  They crack me up.)  Anyway, there were 1000’s of cars at Dion’s, including those parked in the dirt parking lot.  I thought it was the worst idea I’d ever had.  Wrong!  It was great!  They have about 4 cash registers with people taking your order.  Then, while you wait there’s a little platform for the kids to watch the assembly line of the pizza.  Fabulous!

Here’s my suggestions for ordering:

*If your family likes different toppings and doesn’t really want leftovers, order by the slice.

*If you decide to order a whole pizza, keep in mind a medium would feed the Trooks.  It has about 10 slices.   In other words, we had left overs!  Save your money!

*They have the best fruit cup I’ve ever seen at any restaurant-kiwi, watermelon, cantelope, strawberries, and honeydew.  When Meredith saw the watermelon she was so excited she said, “You’re kidding me!”

*Side salads were great.  A “half” would feed 2 people.  It is topped with chopped purple onions, bell peppers, and cucumbers, so if they don’t float your boat, ask for them to leave them off!

*The pizza was great, even for the die hard Pizza Hut fan man~Jason!

We are so glad to have a new place to dine in on this side of town!   Welcome, Dion’s!

I added music to this video, but it isn’t playing.  Why not? So frustrating.

Jack’s Home!

In my opinion, Jack is and will always be a miracle baby.  The boy is already back home!  His surgery went well, the swelling is basically gone, he gained weight in the hospital, and the boy looks amazing!  He will be fitted for his band or “helmet” in a few weeks that he will have to wear for quite awhile.  God is so good!  Thank you all so much for praying for our dear friends!

Chunky Cheese . . .

at least that’s what Meredith calls it.  She is the only one in our family that has had the “priviledge” of going to Chuck E Cheese’s.  She went with our great friend Melissa 2 years ago and still talks about it.    I told her the other day that maybe Melissa would take her again.  (Somehow, I got roped into going, too!)  So, today was the big day.  As I was fixing the girl’s hair, I asked if she was exited about going to CC’s and she proceeded to tell me the “channel” (what I’m guessing she was referring to the t.v.) said the moms are supposed to relax at Chunky Cheese’s.  As I begin to giggle, I ask what she was talking about.  She repeated herself and said, “The channel says the moms relax with their hands behind their heads.”  OK, Baby Girl.  That’s what I’ll do when I go to Chunky Cheese with you for the first time in my life!  Yeah right!

Well, we did have a great time.  It was so good to spend time with the Williams.  We’re not sure where the summer has gone.  We so wish the summer wasn’t almost over so we could spend more time with them.  Wesley and Makenna and “The Littles”-Meredith and Tracen as Melissa calls then had a fabulous time.  Other than the kid with the mohawk who pushed Meredith and tried to take Melissa’s tokens it was great!

Video Issues!!! Some serious movin’ and groovin’ to come!

Update again

In the words of his dad, “Jack’s a trooper.”  He’s in PICU.  Kerre’s gotten to hold him and feed him which are both huge blessings.  Thanks for your prayers.  They’re doing a great job of updating their blog as well if you want more details.

Update on Jack

Jack is out of surgery.  Aaron and Kerre are waiting to see him in ICU.  The surgery was “textbook,” so that’s good.  Please pray for a quick recovery.

Pray for Baby Jack

Tomorrow is Jack’s surgery at 7:30 am.  If you want to read more about it, read Aaron Thorne’s blog.  If not, please just pray that baby Jack will continue to be a miracle baby.
